Alright, this website needs an update, it really does. I need to apologize for the lack of updates. The reasons are a vacation that I neglected to report, lack of motivation to update when I got back, Inspector Iroh and just life in general. I've been meaning to start updating again, but then the FACTS convention in Ghent, OV, Belgium came along and of course I had to be there. One thing is for certain. I want to do things different, because I don't like the current course of the site. It's built on goals I set in 2005, and I'm obviously don't have the same goals now. So here's the things that will happen. 1: The main comic will proceed as usual, and it's about the only thing that will remain the same. It will be the focus on the site as it's always been. I will try to get a page out each week, starting in two weeks, since I have to finish this Inspector Iroh page first. 2: This may come as a shocker, but LWA is dead. It was perfect for a sketch-on-my-commute thing, but it lacks the depth and quality of a gag-a-day strip that could actually flourish into something that I could actually submit to a newspaper. Instead, I'm planning to start an entirely new web comic themed around atheism. I think that the thing I'm missing with my comics is an actual demographic, and the atheist community on the Internet is pretty big and interesting. It allows me to do comics without writing myself into a corner or running dry on ideas because I happen to have a dull month. I can have a set of different characters in each strip and occasionally feature the Artrix character from LWA that you have come to like (or dislike). The quality is supposed to be much superior to LWA in that it will be digitally inked and colored, but in a style I can actually put out twice per week. That makes one featured comic and two strips per week. 3: The blog gets a major overhaul to allow it to run separate from the comic. Right now, the blog is linked to the comic, which discourages me to post little tibits when I'm dry on comics, or when I'm submitting a lot of comics. I'm not yet clear on how it's going to change, but it's going to be far more blog-like. 4: The layout will have a MAJOR upgrade. Not only will the site switch to full CSS, but it will be much easier to navigate. I hope that the new design will remove the stiffness from the site, and it's likely that the two comics will have a distinct feel to their layouts, instead of the similar layout with LWA and the main comic. 5: Some technical improvements. I'm going to implement support for cookies so that people who log in stay logged in. Anonymous commenting will be possible. Well, that's pretty much what I had on my chest. Of course, I will not implement all these changes at once. Expect it to be a gradual process.
First of all, if you haven't seen Avatar, the last Airbender, if you haven't seen a single episode: stop doing whatever you're doing right now, go to the store and buy the goddamn DVDs, or watch it on TV. This series is without a doubt one of the best animated features I have ever seen on TV. Secondly, I'm suffering from a bad case of insomnia, and when I post this, I'm going to try and fix the mental damage of a night without any sleep (it would be cool if seeing the series finale of Avatar caused this, but no). So if all goes well, the page will be finished tomorrow.
